Imelda May (Ireland)
A modern spin on 50's rockabilly, Imelda May is one saucy rock n' roll queen.
Hitting Stage 3 at this year's WOMADelaide, she cut a sultry figure in a gothic-meets-vintage red and black dress and take-no-prisoners jet black hair roll. From the first song she takes command and promises to keep the crowd entertained and on their feet.
Boy, did she deliver!
May put on a crazy, high-energy set that had everyone dancing up a storm. She kept the crowd hyped with rocking blues and country tunes and hilarious Irish banter. She was joined on stage by Dave Priseman on trumpet and percussion, Darrel Higham on guitar, Al Gare on double bass and Steve Rushton on drums.
