Shaolin Afronauts (Australia)
Hilariously garbed in robes and armed with brass, guitars and drums, this hugely talented ten-piece blew the crowd away with their modern take on 1970's afro beat.
Inspired by the likes of avant-garde legends Sun Ra and Fela Kuti, the boys had the crowd with them from start to finish with hypnotic saxophone, insane trumpet solos and chunky bass lines. The audience was in sync with heads bobbing, hands clapping and butts grooving.
Irresistibly fun and incredibly likable, these boys are Adelaide-based so if you missed them in their only Womadelaide performance, make you you catch them around town. You won't regret it!
