In the lead up to the 2011 Womadelaide long weekend, The Barefoot Interview chats with Grammy award winner Tim O'Brien about his love of music, his career, the future and what WOMAD audiences can expect from Two Ocean Trio at this years festival. Tim spoke to Paul and Nicole via phone link up from his home town of Nashville, Tennessee on 8th January 2011.
Nicole and Paul talk to Tim about what got him started in the music industry; his influences and how living in various cities has impacted his style. Tim talks about his mentors and his musical style the process of writing and discusses some of his favourite songs and how they came about, and Nicole asks how long writing a song takes. Tim also talks about producing, writing and generally multi-tasking in the industry. Paul also asks how Two Oceans Trio was formed. Nicole asks how the bluegrass style translates to other countries where the style is less prevalent. Tim talks about the universal language of country music and its accessibility for a varielty of audiences. Paul poses the question of retirement, and Tim talks about whats in the future.
