Dave O’Neil is the bloke you want at your party to offer you a beer, stand beside you while you sweat it out over the snags, and make you laugh - easy going, relaxed, down-to-earth and full of funny observations of the everyday.
He plays with what he knows and has experienced – a faint resemblance to k.d. lang, kids at home, house sharing and growing up, and the funny things that happen when doing comedy at function nights. Dave steers away from politics, current events and, wisely, his wife, whom I’m sure he treasures for taking care of those kids. He’s a moral animal.
The 33 things in the title weren’t actually elucidated – it didn’t really matter – and having an audience member tear off a page on a calendar at the sound of a bell for each thing gave the show a sort of game show appeal, and a great opportunity for some spontaneous repartee. What’s not to like? You’d be thrilled to have Dave O’Neil at your next club event.
